Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal

Now in its 39th year, the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal continues to support families and individuals experiencing hardship at Christmas and throughout the year. Together with our long-standing partner, The Salvation Army, we're helping deliver hope, dignity and practical support to those who need it most.

Every year, we're inspired by the incredible generosity of our customers, team members and communities who come together to support the Appeal. Whether it's donating a gift, making a financial contribution or spreading the word, every act of kindness helps make a meaningful difference.

Giving to the Appeal

Australia celebrates 39 years of the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal!

Kmart along with The Salvation Army are coming together for the 39th year to help support those doing it tough at Christmas and beyond. We encourage you to embrace the spirit of giving this year by supporting the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal. You can do this by making a cash contribution in store, or online, or giving a gift in store. You can also involve your school or business to support the Appeal.

Helping support families in need in our local communities.

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is Australia’s largest and longest-running gift collection drive. It has been helping assist those in need in local communities at Christmas and beyond for over 38 years.

Working with The Salvation Army, and with the generous support of our customers, we’ve distributed over 14 million gifts to those in need at Christmas. We’re proud to have up to six Wishing Tree Champions in every store – that’s thousands of team members dedicated to helping support our communities.

Who the Appeal helps

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal supports children, adults, seniors and families who are unable to afford gifts at Christmas and at a time beyond Christmas.

With more than 760,000 children currently living in poverty, Kmart alongside The Salvation Army is once again working together to help give hope to Australians who may be struggling with homelessness, illness or even family crisis.

Our Partner

The Salvation Army Australia is an international not-for-profit movement that provides hope and help to those most in need across Australia. Through a network of programs and community services, the Salvos offer tailored wraparound support to people facing hardship or crisis — be it homelessness, alcohol or drug addiction, family violence, natural disasters or anything else. The Salvation Army assists all without discrimination and strives to walk alongside people and communities in need as they journey from hardship towards a positive and empowered future.
