What is NexGard?
NexGard is a tasty, beef-flavoured chew that protects your dog from fleas, ticks, and mites for a full month. Each chew is easy to give and loved by dogs. It must be administered once every month.

What parasites does NexGard protect against? NexGard provides protection against fleas, ticks, and mites. However, it does not protect against intestinal worms, heartworm, or the hydatid tapeworm.


Should I use this product? NexGard is:
* Highly recommended for dogs living in high-risk tick areas (such as along the Eastern Coastline of Australia)
* Not suitable for puppies under 8 weeks old, or for pregnant or lactating dogs
*
Is extra coverage required? Since NexGard does not protect against intestinal worms or heartworm, it’s best to pair it with other preventatives:
* Use Drontal if your dog receives an annual heartworm injection.
* Use Milbemax or Interceptor if your dog does not receive a heartworm injection and needs monthly heartworm prevention at home.
* Alternatively, switch to NexGard Spectra, which includes both intestinal worming and heartworm protection.
Why is NexGard important?

Ticks: Tick paralysis can be fatal, especially in tick-prone areas along Australia’s east coast, where ticks can be active year-round. NexGard is highly effective at killing ticks and provides month-long protection.

Fleas:
Fleas bite your dog and feed on their blood, which can cause persistent itching and Flea Allergy Dermatitis. NexGard effectively controls fleas and relieves discomfort.

Flea Tapeworm: Dogs can become infested with flea tapeworms by ingesting fleas carrying tapeworm larvae. NexGard helps prevent flea infestations, reducing the risk of flea tapeworm infection.

Mites: Mite infestations can lead to intense skin and ear irritation. NexGard effectively treats and controls ear mites, as well as sarcoptic and demodectic mange.
