What is NexGard?
NexGard is a tasty chew that protects your dog from fleas, ticks, and mites for a full month. It comes as a soft, beef-flavoured chew that your dog will love. It must be given monthly.
What parasites does NexGard protect against?
NexGard provides protection against fleas, ticks, and mites. It does not protect against intestinal worms, heartworm, or the hydatid tapeworm.
Should I use this product?
NexGard is:
* Highly recommended for dogs living in high-risk tick areas such as the eastern coastline of Australia.
* Not suitable for puppies under 8 weeks old, or for pregnant or lactating animals.
Is extra coverage required? NexGard does not protect against intestinal worms or heartworm. To keep your dog fully protected, combine it with an intestinal wormer such as Drontal if your dog receives a heartworm injection annually. If not, use Milbemax or Interceptor for heartworm prevention. Alternatively, you can switch to NexGard Spectra, which includes added intestinal worming and heartworm prevention.
Why is NexGard important?
Ticks: Tick paralysis can be fatal, so prevention is essential if you live in or visit a tick area. Paralysis ticks are found across most of Australia’s east coast and can be active year-round in warmer climates. NexGard effectively kills ticks, offering protection for a full month.
Fleas: Fleas are small wingless insects that feed on your dog’s blood, often causing itchy dermatitis, especially in dogs with Flea Allergy Dermatitis.
Flea Tapeworm: The flea tapeworm is transmitted by fleas. Dogs become infected by swallowing fleas carrying the larvae. Effective flea control with NexGard prevents flea tapeworm infestation.
Mites: Mite infestations can severely irritate your dog’s skin and ears. NexGard treats and controls ear mites, sarcoptic mange, and demodectic mange.
