Description

The Quell Q501 Smoke Photoelectric smoke alarm offers a sleek low-profile design for DIY installation and comes with a 9V replaceable battery that should be changed annually.

Photoelectric alarms work by aiming a light source (LED) through a sensing chamber to a receiver. When particles enter the chamber, changes to the light pattern are detected by the receiver, which in turn triggers an alarm. These types of alarms are particularly effective at detecting smoldering fires - burning foam, rubber and synthetic materials commonly found in modern homes.

In Australia, all new dwellings and dwellings being renovated must have smoke alarms that comply with AS 3786. Legislations can vary between the state and territories, so always check with your local states regulations to ensure your home is compliant.
