For 37 years, The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal has helped assist families and people in need in our communities at Christmas and beyond. With our long-standing partner The Salvation Army, we are working together to create positive change.
Each year we are blown away by the generosity of our wonderful community, who come together to support the Appeal. Here’s how you can get involved.
Giving to the Appeal
With your gifts in tow, please head to the Wishing Tree in any Kmart store and place a Wishing Tree sticker on your gift.
A Salvation Army representative will then collect the gifts from Kmart stores and oversee their distribution to those in need.
Gifts do not need to be purchased at Kmart, and we kindly ask that you do not wrap them. The Appeal is unable to accept used or second-hand gifts.
Here are some helpful ideas for gifts: books, gift cards, sporting equipment, back to school supplies, arts and crafts, headphones, educational toys, toiletries and musical instruments
You can make a cash contribution in any Kmart store by:
Scanning the QR code at a Wishing Tree in any Kmart store to make a donation of your choice
Grabbing a donation card in the queue for the registers, and scanning it to add $2 to your shop
Clicking the Wishing Tree logo on self-serve checkouts to add a little extra
Dropping your spare change in a collection box at any register
Financial contributions to the Appeal are always welcomed, as it allows The Salvation Army to support those in need through their different services. Donate to the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal online at: https://kmartwishingtree.salvos.org.au/.

Kmart along with The Salvation Army are coming together for the 37th year to help support those doing it tough at Christmas and beyond. We encourage you to embrace the spirit of giving this year by supporting the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal. You can do this by making a cash contribution in store, or online, or giving a gift in store.
The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is Australia’s largest and longest-running gift collection drive. It has been helping assist those in need in local communities at Christmas and beyond for over 36 years.
Working with The Salvation Army, and with the generous support of our customers, we’ve distributed over 14 million gifts to those in need at Christmas. We’re proud to have up to six Wishing Tree Champions in every store - that’s thousands of team members dedicated to helping support our communities.
The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal supports children, adults, seniors and families who are unable to afford gifts at Christmas and at a time beyond Christmas.
With more than 760,000 children currently living in poverty, Kmart alongside The Salvation Army are once again working together to give hope to Australians who may be struggling with homelessness, illness or even family crisis.
The Salvation Army Australia is an international not-for-profit movement that provides hope and help to those most in need across Australia. Through a network of programs and community services, the Salvos offer tailored wraparound support to people facing hardship or crisis — be it homelessness, alcohol or drug addiction, family violence, natural disasters or anything else. The Salvation Army assists all without discrimination, and strives to walk alongside people and communities in need as they journey from hardship towards a positive and empowered future.
